Cat Information

Why does my cat look like she's massaging when I pet her?

When I pet my cat, she moves her paws in a way that looks like shes massaging or kneading dough. I've seen other cats do it, so I know I'm not the only one!

  1. It's a reversion to juvenile behavior when the cat kneads its mother while nursing.
  2. This is your cat's way of showing she's content or feels safe and secure. Kittens when they feed from their mothers breast kneed the breast for milk. Your kitty has never lost the knowledge of how to kneed, she just now associates it with another form of pleasure, happyness, and feeling safe. Sometimes if she's really lovey you may notice that she'll sit on your lap and kneed your stomach. Basicly, It is a security blanket for cats.
  3. That shows she happy and content with her life Good for you!
  4. Your cat thinks you are her mom ! She is showing affection to you for taking good care of her, is contented with the good life she is getting from you and she truly loves you. You are so lucky !
