How do US customs examine pet cats at airport? and rules to bring cat in TEXAS?

I will be flying with my pet cat(1 yr and 2 months old, female, bengal cat) from INDIA to TEXAS,USA. I would like to know about the documents required and how will they examine my cat at the airport. Is spaying of cats required to clear the customs?

  1. good question -- i want to know this also
  2. You will need all shot documentation (including rabies). And you would need registration forms from the breeder of your cat proving what the cat is and other descriptions. I would contact USA Department of Customs to find out exactly what is required.
  3. You will need a health certificate from a veterinarian. The agents will review the health certificate, not the cat. Contact the airline and ask if they need anything else. Are you flying the cat on its own or is it traveling with you. I would highly recommend that you book a flight where the cat can travel in the cabin with you, its much much safer that way.
  4. There's a lot of good US government info here: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/56/related/1 Here's the stuff for Texas: http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/idcu/health/zoonosis/laws/import/entry/ You could also call the US embassy in India and make sure that the info on the websites shown above is correct. If possible, please have your cat fly with you in the cabin. It's a VERY long flight to be in cargo.
