Is it inappropriate to fart in front of your pet cat?

It's considered rude to fart in front of other people. This got me thinking as to whether this policy should apply to pet cats as well? As a cat owner, are you courteous of when your cat is around by not farting in front of them openly?

3. If I can deal with a stinky litter box, they can deal with the bean burrito I had for lunch. Didn't you know that if you hold your farts in you can spontaneously combust? I totally saw that on South Park.
