Cat Information

What can I use as a temporary alternative to cat litter?

I accidentally left my cat litter at my new house (we're in the process of moving to a town 40 minutes away) and my 6 week old kitten needs something to go in. I am unable to get to a store right now. Is there something that might be around the house that I can use until morning so Sam will be happy?

  1. Sand, wood ships, shredded newspaper.
  2. get some dirt, it will be fine till tomorrow
  3. sand
  4. Rip up newspaper and put the shreds in the box as litter.
  5. Shredded newspaper is your best bet. Its relatively absorbant & you probably have some around the house. It is also something that your cat will use more readily than any other substance you have hanging around. Only draw back is that it doesnt do much to kill the oder though. However, if your kitty is only 6 weeks. That should not be much of an issue. Good luck!
  6. Dirt. It was the original litter box filler. Some things like newspaper will scare a kitten. And I'm certain you can go out and get a scoop of dirt in the yard.
  7. shredded up newspaper or sand will work just fine...just make sure if you use sand to watch out for sand fleas...Id use the newspaper if I were you
  8. Newspaper is your best bet for an overnight emergency.
  9. Shredded news paper works, but some cats have an allergic reaction to the ink. Give it a trial run and see how it goes.
