Cat litter?
Has anyone or their cats suffered ill effects from the dust that comes off clumping cat litter? Is there any clumping litter that does not have any dust? What type of litter do you use for your cat?

- Nope - because I don't use it! Wood stove pellets are the BEST litter for cats - and ferrets - I use it for both. Not only does it totally remove the urine odor but it absorbs the moisture, dumps out dry and the best part? You can buy a 40 pound bag for about FIVE DOLLARS - some places even less. I pay $4.19 a bag at my local Lowes! It's the same compressed pine sawdust pellets as Feline Pine so anyone using that stop wasting your money! They're also totally dust free and don't contain any additives or questionable ingredients like those new "crystal" and "pearl" litters. You can find them at Home Depot, Lowes and another homestores and most grocery stores like the Safeway, Fred Meyer and Albertsons stores here in the Northwest US. Wood stove pellets are also used exclusively by both the cat shelter and ferret shelter that I volunteer with.
- I dont use clumping litter as I heard it can cause stomach problems if the cats ingest it by licking their paws. I use Catsan cat litter and find it works very well at keeping odours down. May be a bit more expensive than some other brands, but lasts a lot longer and therefore works out quite economical - especially if you buy it when its on offer.
- When I used cat litter everywhere in the house was dust. I use now old newspapers made into small peaces in a plastic washbowl and change it everyday. It keeps clean and hygenic. My other cat does it in the grate of the waterway in the bathroom.
