  1. http://www.petfinder.com thousands of kittens that need homes.
  2. I found my kitten on Oodle.com but since I wanted a pure white one I had to travel. Hoobly.com is another good site for finding kittens. You can try craigslist.com & kijiji.com also.
  3. Try Island Cat Resources & Adoption in Alameda. I once got 2 wonderful kittens from them. They rescue strays and feral cats and kittens. My kittens were bottle fed and fostered in a home with an adult cat (not kept in a cage at a shelter) until they were old enough for adoption. Check their website for kittens they have available now. Also, you can go to the Petco in Alameda on Saturday afternoons, and they have their cats and kittens on display there. You can also go to other local shelters in your area. The small amount of money they will charge you for the pet, which already has some vaccinations and is spayed or neutered, is less money than it would cost you to pay for the spaying or neutering alone. Another great place to look for a new pet in the Bay Area is the Marin County Humane Society in Novato. They have a large posh facility where the animals are cared for very well. I just looked, and there are 2 really cute cats for adoption right on the main "adoption" page of their website now. Some shelters from outside of Marin County send their extra animals there to find homes.
  4. Instead of wasting time on yahoo answers, why don't you google your local papers want ads and look. There are susally many give aways or sales of cats in most newspapers. also, call around to shelters.
  5. Look for your a shelter near you. There are many cats/kittens in need of homes. There are more cats/kittens euthanized than dogs. 3 to 4 times as many.
