Cat Information

Can anyone recommend a cat litter for a cat with feline asthma?

My cat has minimal symptons (coughing and weezing) and if his litter may be a factor, I'd like to find out if there are any dust free litters out there that someone can recommend.

  1. You should ask your vet to see if they know of any. Thats your best bet cause most kitty litters I know are dusty. Maybe try litter news. its not a clay type. I have used that before and my cats liked it and it wasn't dusty.
  2. I have asthma so I can't use the clay litters. What I prefer is Nature's Miracle (or there is a generic type at Wal-Mart called Fresh Results), Feline Pine, or Yesterday's News. I've found that even the silicone pearls have too much dust for my asthma. My basic rule for looking for litter is if it's paper or it can be flushed, I should be able to use it without an asthma attack. Good luck to you.
  3. Poor kitty! I suggest you ask your vet, because comapnies will vary from state to state. Oh, and give your kitty a pat from me!
  4. Feline Pine is what I use and i love it.
  5. my cat also has a mild asthma (developed from exposure to my landlord's cigarette smoke), the vet recommended that I use an uncovered litter box and an air purifier in his bedroom. He never suggested a type of litter though.
  6. I use feline pine, I love it and so do the cats
  7. Try Yesterday's News, Feline Pine or Clump 'N Flush Cat Litter (This dust-free cat litter is biodegradable, flushable, and compostable).
  8. Feline Pine...its healthy and all natural here is the link go check it out http://www.naturesearth.com/
  9. I did some research since my cat has allergies that may be food related, but I wondered if they also could be the litter in his box. He is constantly scratching at his ears, and it has gotten better since the vet changed his diet, but not completely gone. The perfume in his litter box sets off my allergies all the time. And I constantly smell it on his paws when I hold him and when he sleeps on the top of my pillow! So I bought one bag to try. I was very impressed with this product. No dust, and for me especially, no perfume smell! It was easy for me to use. I hope this helps you! Best of luck! =^.^=
