- Um, I'm thinking it needs to eat ferret food. Cat food is for cats. If you don't want to buy that ferret food, just get it, and have him pay you back once he gets back. I would think cat food might not be good for it. And why cat food? What about dog food? idk Try and ask somebody at the pet store. Or call him, and tell him the situation.
- Please dont feed cat food! It is not good for them, if you have too go to a wal-mart and buy some ferret food
- Kitten chow is always a good bet. It's got the vitamins and the milk, too. If you have scraps of cooked meat, see if the ferret will eat that. It probably will. It might like eggs, too.
- the kind of cat food that says marshalls ferret food...its called cat food because cats eat it...not formulated for ferrets! so unless you want to kill your bf's ferret i suggest you get the same exact food he was already eating!
- MEOW MIX FANCY FEAST
- GEEZUS! What horrible answers so far. You people should not answer considering you clearly don't have a CLUE about ferrets! Ferrets are obligate carnivores and should be eating foods very high in protein and with little to no grain. The food should have at LEAST 45% protein. Meow Mix, Kitten Chow - garbage - a ferret would die of malnutrition. Dog food would be even worse as it hasn't even LESS protein. And ferret food from WALMART? The only brand they carry has bits of fruit in it that can lead to a blockage and DEATH. This doesn't mean, though, that a ferret can't eat cat food. There's lots of high quality cat foods out there that are actually HEALTHIER for ferrets than feeding most of the commercial foods made for ferrets. lnnova Evo, Petcurean Go! Natural Chicken and Turkey and Blue Buffalo Wilderness are all 50% protein and grain free. You can buy a 6 pound bag of Wilderness at PetSmart for around $18.99. The other two they don't carry - you'd have to check the manufacturer's sites to see which specialty pet stores in your area carry them. $35 for Marshalls? That food is not that expensive. The 4 pound bag is about $16.99. Marshalls Food isn't that good of a food for ferrets. It's only about 38% protein and contains herring meal which leads to SUPER STINKY poops! He's probably feeding it to his ferret because that's what the store recommended. They don't do so because it's a good food - they do so because they HAVE to under contract - because the ferrets themselves from Marshalls! But don't swtich him "cold turkey" to another food - give him a mix of Marshalls and one of the better foods. You can find Marshalls at PetSmart as well. They have a smaller milk-carton like container than you can buy for only about $6.99.
