Is newspaper cat litter ok for someone to use if their pregnant?
I Know someone who is young and pregnant, and wondering if she could use newspaper litter for her cat, til the pregnancy is over? Is it safe for her to use? or not?

- Regular cat littler should be used. The only problem with her being pregnant is that she might contract a worm that the cat might have. It has nothing to do with the type of litter. She should bring her cat to the vet and tell the vet to test her cat for parasites because she is pregnant. IF the cat carries the parasite she should NOT change the litter herself and she should wash her hands if she handles the cat. IF the cat doesn't have the parasite, then keep the cat indoors so that it doesn't and it wouldn't hurt to have the cat tested every 2-3 months to be safe.
- Sorry, but it's not the cat litter that's unsafe for pregnant women, it's the cat faeces and urine. However, some cat litters are unsafe for everyone, not just pregnant women, because they are cancer causing supposedly.
- Litter doesn't matter. Cats can be carriers of toxoplasmosis, which can be dangerous to the unborn baby. There is more risk of contracting this from uncooked meat, but no pregnant woman should clean the litter box--have someone else do it.
