What causes tears to drip out of a cat's eyes when there is no foreign object or health problem? ?

Tears were dripping one by one out of his eyes while he was licking the bottom of my ice cream bowl. He has never had any health problems, and that was the only time it happened. What caused that?

1. Pressure on the tear duct? Usually it's a sign of an eye infection. If he doesn't have any gunk in the corner of his eye when he gets up from sleeping, though, it may have just been the fact he was eating something cold and it's nothing to worry about.
2. Either an eye infection or,what my cats always do,poked himself in the eye.
