Do you think that these cats will fight?
I have a 3-year old cat. I found these SUPER cute kittens for sale and my dad said that I can buy 1. The kitty is 2 and 1/2 months old. Do you think that they will fight? My other cat has been with us for 2 3/4 years. Basically all her life. My dad says that she has marked her territory everywhere because she is walking all around the house. Will my old cat kill or hurt my new kitten? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

- Keep the new kitten in a safe room such as a bathroom or small bedroom away from your adult cat. You will need to introduce them slowly to get to know each other, but until the cat is about 4 months old, it should live in the small room at all time when it is not supervised by someone so it doesn't get hurt by the other cat or by exploring. The book, "Think like a cat" is a great source of information. There is also "Cat vs. Cat" by the same author, and I use that in my multicat house.
- At first for alittle bit, keep the kittens away from the cat. It is possible that the cat will hurt one of the kittens, but they will probably just play and goof off. I wish you luck!
- yes, they will fight at first. the kitten will know when to leave the bigger cat alone. is the kitten male or female? this will also play a role in this. after a while, they will get used to things & everything should calm down. good luck:)
- A long time ago a new cat was introduced to my house hold, and my cat that lived there for over TEN YEARS was NOT happy about it. They hissed at each other, but just take it slow, cause you know what? One day I saw them cleaning each other lovingly and cuddling instead of hissing. It melted my heart. In an unrelated note.... the newer cat ran away just days before Hurricane Charlie so.... RIP Twinkle : (
- Take your cat to where the kitten is and see if they get along. Each cat has its own persinalty and you can't tell if they'll get along until you try it.
- Becaurful that the older cat dose not attack you.they might kill each other if you do not put the kitten in a room and let thim get to know each other by putting there paws under the door.It will take a long time for the cat to get use to the new kitten.best of luck.
