Will moldy food affect my cat's health severely?
I just realized my cats food is moldy? He is now coughing unusually. How much will this affect him and what can i do(other than taking him to the vet) to reverse the effects.

- Yes.
- Get some fresh food. If you recontainerize then wash and dry the container. This will usually take care of the prolem.
- Just take him to the vet, he could be extremly ill
- Heck don`t let the cat eat that, would you eat moldy food?--J
- Hi there...Moldy or spoiled food, garbage can contain multiple toxins causing vomiting and diarrhea and can also affect other organs. Depending on how much was consumed and over time minor amounts will cause diarrhoea in cats and will pass after a few days. Make sure your kitty has plenty of fresh water daily and fresh cat food. If the diarrhoea persist for more than 2 days a visit to the vet will be required. If a high amount was consumed it would be best to ring a vet for a visit will be necessary for evaluation.
