What happens if you put dog flea bath shampoo on a cat does it do anything to the cats health or skin?

1. DON'T DO IT!!! The chemicals in dog flea formulas will cause slow death for cats.
2. I wouldn't, they have different shampoos for a reason! Cat shampoo is made differently because the fur has different oil levels and cats groom themselves--- a lot. You'd be best sticking with the kitty-stuff.

4. All the posters are CORRECT! It is much better to use Advantage or Frontline which you should get at first from a vet to be sure you have the proper dosage. Flea shampoo and flea collars are not at all effective with animals. When you bathe a flea infested the fleas drown in the water and you can use baby shampoo or Dawn dishwater liquid and it will be just as effective and you will not be risking your cat's life or health.
5. If it dosn't have a dosage for cats on the shampoo than it is probably safe to assume you shouldn't use it on your cat. Alot of cats die from stuff like that, people don't always realize that a flea dosage for a dog is much higher than a cats would be and will either get a bad rash and become deathly ill or just die. Check with a vet before you put anything on your cat.
