cat health ? MY family cat is 22 will be 23 in march. well she's an inside cat she use to be chubby but now she's skin and bones. she throws up a lot depending on the cat food. just recently she's been having her tongue out and doesn't put it back in her mouth for awhile or u touch it. could something be wrong with her health? any ideas what might be wrong? could she have had a stroke? she's been more annoying now like always wants to be on you or someone(that's why i think she's getting close to dying) cause people say they want more of ur attention and get close to u more when somethings wrong or going wrong. my mom fed her tuna and she liked that and actually kept that down. I told my mom to start buying can food that helps the digestive system. she hasn't thrown up lately. i'm trying to convince my mom to take her to the vet. She's such a big part of our family i don't know what will happen when she's gone. My mom has never taken that cat to the vet cause she's always been healthy with nothing wrong but i told my mom somethings gotta be wrong now so its time to do it. one time like 6 months ago she was laying and it didnt look like she was breathing i thought she was dead and i moved her touched her stomach and nothing so i was crying and told my mom and then my mom went back there n touched her n she woke up so that cats gonna give me a heart attack. she's mainly deaf and partially blind from what we can tell or maybe she just has selective hearing

Is it safe for me to feed Purina Urinary Tract Health formula cat food to both of my cats? I have two cats. One was just diagnosed with a UTI. =( He's on antibiotics. I also went and bought a bag of Purina Urinary Tract Health cat food, since I heard it's good. I read on the website that you're not supposed to mix it with other types of cat food. In other words, you're only supposed to feed your cat the Purina Urinary Tract food for maximum effectiveness. So my question is, should I just put down the Purina and take up the regular food? Is it safe for me to do that? Thanks guys! Any other tips on how to help my kitty feel better are welcome. This is his second UTI. (I think he's stressed b/c we just moved.)

Can my cat get any health problems by nursing when she is not the mother nor ever has been one? My cat has been nursing our newest kitten for about the past 2 months (I'm pretty sure no milk is produced and he does perfectly fine with his food). She is not his mother nor has she ever had kittens (she thinks she is his mom though). The kitten was 9 weeks when we got him and he started nursing from her a few weeks later. I thought it would stop relatively quickly since he was getting way too old to nurse but he is about 4 months now and she is still letting him nurse. Can she get any health problems from this or start having false pregnancies? If so how can i stop this behavior?

Is dried cat food really bad for a cat's health? I often hear that dried cat food is bad for cats. That it may cause diabetes or heart disease, as well as weight gain in cats and dried food should therefore be avoided. Does this apply to all dried food, or just some brands of dried food? Would the dried food brands that list meat or chicken as the main ingredient be better for a cat than those that list corn meal or grain as the main ingredient? Thanks.
Does the age of a mother cat predict the future health of her offspring? I am thinking about adopting two 3 month old kittens whose mother was only four months old when she became pregnant. Gestation was normal and she successfully cared for her litter of 5 (she was spayed after, and she is fine). None of her 5 kittens developed any health problems to this point, but they are smaller than typical for their age. My question is, can offspring of such a young mother be more prone to health problems over time? If so, how much more prone? Where can I learn more about this?

My cat may have cancer. What can I do to improve his health/chances? Merlin is 12 years old. He has already been scheduled for surgery, later this month, to removed the large tumor (which is on his hind leg), but the results from biopsy won't be back until May 1st. In general, he has experienced good health, and is active, though chubby (12.8 pounds). He lives with two female cats, one older and one much younger. They all eat a high quality dry food, for "sensetive skin," and are much-loved indoor cats. I know the usual answers (chemotherapy, vet-precribed medication), but was hoping that pet lovers might have some other ideas, foods or supplements he could injest, homeopathic remedies, medical therapies that have worked for pets you know, specific medications that worked wonders for your "baby," etc.
Any one familiar with cat health? My cat is not an outside cat. He ended up getting outside and was gone for two weeks. He came back with fight scratches and he is as skinny as a bone!!! I already called the vet his appointment is next Thursday. The question would be that he has a hairball stuck in his throat and he can't get it out. He keeps trying to hack it up. He has been trying on and off since last night when he came back. If I pat him on the back he tries very hard. Should I be doing this? Any ideas to help my poor kitty get it out?
What kind of health supplements should I get for my aging cat? I want my cat to live as long as possible, and I'd like to know of any good supplements to keep my cat healthy. She's almost 7 years old, on the small side, and is a completely indoor cat. She's extremely healthy, robust, and playful. I feed her Blue Buffalo Spa Selects, but I may be switching her to a better food. Any advice is appreciated, thank you! I don't mean medicine, I mean holistic food supplements, like vitamins.
My mother has cancer, would my cat be harmful to her health? I heard that there are viruses that cats can give to people. I'm just afraid of the cat weakening my mother's body further. Is there any way to prevent this? Should I keep my cat in a seperate area or in a different house from my mother in order to protect her?
What health risks might a healthy cat pose to a healthy person? Of course, we all try to practice good hygiene, but there are always times when my cat reaches out and licks my lips unexpectedly just after he's been licking his butt, or when I'm not sure if he's eaten something off my dinner plate when I had my back turned. How worried and how careful should we be? Oh I'm not phobic, just wondering.
Is yogurt bad for a cats health? I have 3 cats. 2 kittens and an adult. One of my kittens hangs out with me all the time. I give her yougurt sometimes, but my brother tells me not to. If i give yogurt to my cat could it effect her health? Or is cats being lactose intolerant a myth?
Nursing very skinny cat back to health? A cat that looks to be in its late kittenhood wandered into my garage last night. It is very very skinny. It ate a bit of my cats hard food I gave it and offered it some water but it did not want any. It has been about 12 hours and it has not eaten any more. I am not sure if it is just not hungry or if there is problems with how skinney it is.It is a super friendly cat so I do not think that it is feral. I am about to make a trip to the pet store and need suggestions for the best kind of food to get it.

How does declawing benefit a cat's health? I know that spaying and neutering have health benefits for cats. It helps prevents cancers and removes the urges that cause them to roam and fight, among other things. However, I have yet to discover what benefits declawing contributes to a cat's health. So, my question is what does declawing do to benefit the cat? So, if there is no benefit to the cat, then why would people do it their cats? Surely it couldn't be for selfish reasons, could it? I would like to hear from people who believe there are benefits to the cat. Or, perhaps there aren't any?
Can having an indoor only cat be hazardous to her health? my cat is so friendly and niave because of it's indoor life. It got too close to a neighbor dog and it bit her tail. It got infected, so some of the tail will have to be amputated. (Signs didn't show until too late). but O.T.T, she's fine. My daughter brought her outside, so that's why she ended up out. Should i start supervising outdoor time for the cat or what's the best thing 4 her?

I need suggestions to get my cat back to better health.? She's about 14 years old, and I love her to death!!! Her name is Nanner. Anyway, she is an outside/inside cat, but lately she's been outside a lot. I've been in the same place, away from the city and in the country, ever since I've had her. In the winter she gains weight just fine and does good. But in the summer it gets bad. This time, it's the worst yet. She doesn't ever eat when she comes in, and I don't know if she's getting water out where she runs around. I'm not sure if she's getting sick; I'm out of town and I'm having a friend take care of her. Nanner always gets down when I'm gone, but all she's been doing is sleeping and not eating. I haven't gone to the vet; it's expensive and I know it's worth it, but I just can't. What can i do to get her to eat? I'll call up my friend and tell him.
